In 2023, everything changed. I had just finalized a divorce and was adjusting to life as a newly single mother of two when I was diagnosed with epilepsy — a moment that would alter my life in ways I couldn’t have predicted. Overnight, I lost my driver's license, my independence, and the career path I had been building for years. 

The weight of it all was immense. But even in the uncertainty, one thing remained steady: I wasn’t done.

With only $25 to my name, I walked into Dollar Tree and picked up what I could: basic cleaning supplies, gloves, and a whole lot of grit. I pulled together what I had left from a previous business — a few tools, an old printer, and my determination — and launched what would become my second act.

That’s how Hillsborough Cleaning Services began: just me, some flyers I printed at home, and the drive to take care of people’s spaces the way I wished someone had taken care of mine.

What started as a small-town solo effort quickly gained momentum. Word spread. Referrals grew. I began cleaning not just everyday homes, but multi-million dollar estates, commercial spaces, and luxury properties.

As the business expanded beyond Hillsborough — into Durham, Chapel Hill, Raleigh, and throughout the Triangle region — it became clear that the name needed to grow with it.
